Job Title - Purchasing Assistant / Purchasing Officer

Salary - £19,000 - £20,000

Job brief

We are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients based in Blackburn for a Purchasing Assistant to order supplies and equipment based on our clients needs.

Purchasing Assistant responsibilities include researching new vendors, tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates, invoices and discounts.) Ultimately, you will make cost-effective purchases and ensure we maintain a fully stocked inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs
  • Research potential vendors
  • Produce and distribute purchase orders to UK and European suppliers
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
  • Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices
  • Prepare cost analyses
  • Maintain updated records of invoices and contracts
  • Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
  • Liaise with Sales order processing to ensure timely flow of dispatch of orders.
  • Annual stock take
  • Stock control
  • Update supplier price list
  • Monitor and filing of supplier TDS, MSDS

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Purchasing Assistant, or similar role
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Experience in Sage Line 50
  • Flexible working mindset as will be working as part of a small team.
  • Car owner essential
  • Good Sense of humor
  • Reliable & good time keeping essential

  • Mon - Thurs 9am -5pm
  • Friday 9am-4pm
  • 45 mins lunch
  • 23 days Statutory holidays + bank holidays. (3/4 days to be held back for Christmas shutdown)
